Would you like to have low fat breakfast? Let's make the popular south Indian dish Rava Upma for breakfast today.
Ingredients- Sooji – 100 gm
- oil or pure ghee – 2 tablespoon
- peanuts – 50 gm
- Rai seeds – 1 small spoon
- Green Chili – 2 to 3 (finely cut)
- Green pea – half small bowl
- Carrots – one small bowl (grated)
- Coriander – 50 gm cut finely
- Green coconut – 1 tablespoon grated
- salt – as per taste
Method
Roast the peanuts and peel off their skin. Put them in a bowl.
Roast the sooji (semolina) in a dry frying pan till it turns light brown. Take it out in a plate.
Put oil in a frying pan and heat it. Put rai seeds in the frying pan. Rai seeds will start roasting while making a cracking sound. Add green chili and peanuts and roast for another minute. Add green pea and chopped carrots and roast for 2 to 3 minutes. Now put 400 gm water in the frying pan, add sooji and stir with the stirring spoon. Keep stirring while the mixture boils. The mixture will keep getting thicker. When it starts looking like a halwa, you'll know that the Upma is ready.
Take out the upma in a bowl and garnish with coriander and coconut. The all time favorite Rava Upma is now ready to serve and eat along with coriander chutney.
